Soldier

As you go to war, Soldier,
You are always on my mind.
You have a job to do,
And the passion to do it.
Still my heart breaks to think
This may be the last time I get to say goodbye.
I can see you standing there,
A grin on your face and foreign sand in your hair.
You bear the scars of battles lost,
Both on your skin and on your heart.
Always remember there are hearts at home,
That are glad to share the pain.
They are family, and a friend,
And a child too young to know.
But all await the day when
You are back safe in thier arms.
We love you, Soldier,
And know you love us.
Be safe our love,
And come home soon.
